A Very Merry Un-versary to who? To you!

 Bosom friends!

I took a good friend's advice and changed the look of Found in Translation to make it more Miami.

I hope you like it and please feel free to give me any kind of criticism you feel like springing over my head. I am opinionated but open. Especially after a couple of white wine spritzers.

As I mentioned, yesterday was hubby and I wedding anniversary. We call it our Un-versary. The thing is that we consider our official anniversary the day we physically met on 10 years ago (hubby was a gentlemen and didn't physically take advantage of me on that date...on the other hand I was not as lady-like as I should have been...).
As you see we don't call it our Un-versary because of a close connection with Alice in Wonderland. She was running after a rabbit down a hole. I was only trying to get me a man.
In any case an Un-versary still deserves to be celebrated a little so I made reservations in a cozy, romantic restaurant in the Design District in Midtown Miami.

After a few Sorry we are fully booked answers from restaurants in Brickell (I tell you that area is getting as overpopulated as frigging Shanghai) I resigned to choose a spot where I would have to drive to. While browsing on line I found this darling little restaurant on North East Second Ave called The Cypress Room.

Their neon sign.

Street view.

I figured since all those big places in Brickell were at capacity (snobby little hostess...) I should look for something smaller but way more authentic. I honestly don't need to be on the 36th floor of whatever building in order to enjoy a meal.

As soon as hubby got home I "fed" him a nice glass of celebratory Prosecco and off we went to The Cypress Room in the Design District.
Luckily the Prosecco helped with the road rage that almost took over me while getting out of Brickell at 6:30 PM. I felt like a salmon swimming against the current.

Once we got to the restaurant we discovered that we were the ONLY two patrons who were about to have dinner. The host apologized for the fact that we ended up there on a slow night (you know the tail end of the Holidays) but I told her not to fret, that is how I love my restaurants: quiet and all for my self. To enjoy a meal I definitely don't need to be in a room packed with loud foodies. (Actually 30 minutes after us another couple celebrating their anniversary came in so at least I had somebody to show off my outfit to... )
I do love when I can pick and choose which table I am going to sit at. Hubby is very grateful too when I can do so.You must know that I am renowned for being escorted to a table and 2 minutes later wanting to be moved because I didn't find the location conducive to my enjoyment.
The host and the waiters were all very attentive (well it was just the two of us...) but I could tell they knew what they were doing. To my delight they actually had a lovely knowledge regarding the whole menu. No reindeer in headlights kind of look in their eyes when we asked the usual gay boy questions over the menu (what do you put in this? how much oil is in that? and such...).
You go girls!

The atmosphere was lovely and the play-list they put together for the back ground music was just perfect (30's-40's jazzy swanky melodies).

Open kitchen.

I choose the perfect table right next to the window (far right).

On our table.

The food was delightful and well presented. We eat with our eyes first, right? As they would say on Chopped from the Food Channel they developed some very nice flavors and the dishes were all well balanced. Hubby hates when I chatter like that about food since he believes that talk is cheap. My man is also a trained chef and I learned my kitchen skills only by watching cooking programs. So my technique is still very theoretical.

Our Un-versary little dessert.

Macaroons with your bill.

We finished or bottle of Prosecco and left The Cypress Room happy to have found such a cute place that managed to make us forget about all the bells and whistles of those high and mighty restaurants in the whole of Brickell.

I do recommend it to all of you bosom friends. From my bosom to yours.

Ciao for now.
